I love the composition of this image and the colors, earthtone hues of orange and yellows and browns, the mottled green water, reflected blue sky. Fiona really brought out the strange charm of the scene with her apping. It’s beautiful and alive, but with elements of decrepitude and age. It looks like a back alley where not a lot of singing gondoliers pass through, serenading dreamy-eyed lovers: the real Venice, not in the tour brochures.
Venice must be a weird and wonderful place to live, when I think about it.
