Susan Thompson

I love how Susan has applied texture as if to suggest weather-worn graveyard statuary. The color gradation—earth tones and rust at the bottom of the image transmuting into indigo, purples and deep blues at the top—suggest that very journey: from the earthbound to the heavenly, making all beautiful, the embodiment of both the sacred and the profane in the form of a woman’s naked torso.

And the layered-in feathers—are they stonework?—are a beautiful touch.
