Lola Mitchell ~ When She Sings

I really meant to write more about this image last night, but the phone kept ringing.

I had made the notation “church” to remind me of the various aspects of devotion I find in this image: a strange chapel, meditation, song, a flowing of the Spirit through us, prayer, stillness.

It’s a wonderful shot, beautifully apped. The desaturation, texturing,  and vignetting. I absolutely love the fan in the corner, the diffuse glow between her and the doorway: is it energy flowing into the room? Or does it emanate from her, as if her chakras were wide open from her song and energy flowing up and out? The layering of the branches in her body conveys a beautiful, wild, and profound communion .
