Shirley Drevich

This bird is so great. He’s a player, the feathered roué, a man about town, surveying the forest below, his dominion, scanning for marks, rubes, worms, and females, not necessarily in that order.

I just love this shot – I love his posture, his beady little eye peering intently forward, his curved legs, his slightly fluffed tail feathers, and the orange and yellow feet absolutely kill me. Love the soft leafy shadows on the weathered railing. It’s an avian street shot, the diagonal sidewalk/railing slicing through the foreground. Bird erect and alert. The wheels are turning. It’s a jungle out there, but he’s ready. He’s always been ready. Lights, camera, action!

Great work, Shirley!
