Knox Bronson ~ Friend of a Friend

Jeff Dickinson and Frank Salvato of Apple contacted me the week before last and asked me if I would be interested in doing an ongoing events at the downtown San Francisco Apple Store at Stockton and Market.

We met last Tuesday afternoon and had a great conversation. They are, of course, big fans of P1xels, always have been. I brought my iPad and showed them the Preview Issue #00 of iPhotographer Magazine. They were absolutely blown away by it (to the point where they asked if we would do a separate presentation about the ins-and-outs of launching a multi-media publication for the Apple Newsstand at the store—but one thing at a time!).

The long and the short of our meeting was that we will be doing events at the store every third Sunday, starting August 18, 4-5:30 PM. Since it is an ongoing series to celebrate the global phenomenon of iPhone photography in all its multifaceted splendor, we are looking forward to developing a really fun and evolving curriculum, as well as building a local community of iPhone fanatics and bringing all sorts of interesting people to speak, teach, demonstrate, and discuss all facets of our shared obsession, from near and far. Our first event at the store will be a celebration, in some way, of the launch of the magazine. Stay tuned for details.

Hope to see you there!

On a final note, you are probably wondering what the one-legged bird is about. I took that picture on my first trip down to the OCCCA gallery in Santa Ana where we were doing a big show in April of 2011. I stopped about a hundred miles out of Los Angeles for quick bite to eat. When I came back to the car, this little guy was sitting on my hood. Hopping around on one leg, happy as can be. I quickly snapped a few pictures. And then he took off to parts unknown.

I took his short visit as a portent of good things to come and a reminder to always keep going, no matter what, dancing on one leg if need be.
