Kirsten Fenton ~ Bird Nap

I have mentioned countless times over the past 5+ years that it is the artists of PIXELS who raise the bar, not moi. My gifts, if any, is the ability to see where the bar is, as well as possessing the temerity to curate the site with that ever-rising threshold in mind.

I received this first image from Kirsten this evening. I was instantly struck by its power, the originality of the concept, her execution of it, especially her expert use of layering to put the girls into a bird’s nest.

And then I read her letter, asking to be registered on the site and explaining that she had built the nest “by hand out of branches and sticks in the woods.”

I want to announce the bar just got raised again.
