Well you didn’t see it coming
So how were you to know
There would be a situation
(Oh please don’t go)
How could you turn away
And study some picture on the wall
Trying to find your way back
Back to the way it was before
I’ll be home someday
You won’t be on your own
I
’ll be in the mirror
You won’t be alone
Down the center of the railway
And you’re singing in your sleep
Now you’re driving down the sidewalk
Strolling on the 405
Down the center of the railway
And you’re singing in your sleep
When the moon arises
You park high up on the hill
And the city spreads beneath you
Like a carpet made of pearls
And you don’t want to know the reason
You just want it to go on and on
On and on
On and on
You don’t want to know the reason
You just want it to go on and on
On and on
On and on
Happy Sunday.
This is a demo of a song, I’ll Be In The Mirror, my friend, Greg Jones, wrote. Obviously, Elodie’s title reminded me of it. He insisted I learn the song and we recorded it. Two years later, he committed suicide and all of a sudden, the song made perfect sense.
I cannot find the recording so I redid the backing, turning it into more of an ambient piece. I’m trying to figure out how to do the percussion I hear in my head for it. No luck so far. One way or the other, I’ll do it justice and it will be on my next album, the only non-original.
